With the 2009 Pokerstars WCOOP in full swing, now is the time to lock down your seat for the Main Event. The Main Event is a two day event, starting on September 20th at 4:30 pm ET. The guaranteed prize pool is $10,000,000 and the direct buy-in is $5200. The $10 million prize pool makes this the largest online tournament in history, and the winner will be taking home well over $1 million. Last years winner ‘ckingusc’ won $1,265,432…not bad for two days work.
Satellite tournaments for the Main Event have been running for a while now, and will continue to run up until the start of the event. Satellite tournaments for the Main Event start for as little as $7.50, or 3 Frequent Player Points. There are Steps, sit-n-go, and multi-table satellite tournaments running all day long.
To play in the Main Event satellite tournaments: Write down Pokerstars promo code (marketing code) TEN500, and bonus code Stars600. You will need these codes during the registration process to get the new $600 bonus that matches your first deposit 100%.
Next, download Pokerstars and open register your new account.
Open the Pokerstars lobby and click on ‘Events’, then ‘WCOOP’, then you can choose to further filter satellite types by clicking on ‘FPP Satellites’, ‘Cash Satellites’, ‘Sit & Go Satellites’, or ‘Steps’. Using these filters make it a lot easier to find what you’re looking for.
Satellites for all remaining events are running now, starting for as little as $1. While none of the other events can offer a $10 million guaranteed prize pool, there are still several tournaments with $1 million + prize pools yet to run. Also, since the buy-in costs are so much less than the Main Event, they are easier to qualify for.
All of the events are hosted by a member of the Pokerstars Pro Team. Daniel Negreanu, Joe Hachem, Barry Greenstein, Chris Moneymaker, Vanessa Rousso, Chad Brown, Katja Thater, Marcel Luske, Victor Ramdin and others will be hosting events. The Main Event will be hosted by Steve Paul-Ambrose.
It’ll be another year until the next WCOOP, but you still have time to play this year!
